Possibly not the answer you're looking for, but when I was looking for a set of these I realised they were very very expensive if I was only using them for reloading and odd jobs.

Instead went with a set of mechanical dial calipers off "that famous auction site" ( ) for well under 20 quid from Chronos Engineering; very very good and repeatable.

Mitutoyo are good if you can afford them. I've had mine over 20 years and they're still much better than the cheap ones. Try here:

Also have a look at this. The igaging calipers seem good IF you can get hold of them over here at the same bargain price.

Not that I can see. They seem to be £12 more?

As linked earlier, this is Miututoyos latest caliper and comes with a free engineers reference:

I have a set and I also have a cheap pair from The well known auction site, to be honest I just use the cheap oones as if I loose or damage them its not the end of the world.
All depends what you are using them for.
    Under £7!

As above, I have a few sets of Mitutoyo calipers - one of which I bought when beginning my apprenticeship 25 years ago! They are still as good as the day I bought them. Their quality is undeniable, but there are much cheaper out there that will do a similar job.
The last time LIDL had an offer on digital calipers, I bought a few of them (around £7 each). They are perfectly adequate for reloading and small engineering jobs, and let's face it, if you need proper accuracy, you're not going to be using calipers anyway, you'll be using micrometers.
My advice would be to take a punt on the cheaper ones, I don't think you'll be too disappointed. One thing I would say though is, try to get ones with a thumbwheel. They're much nicer to use.

Agree about the thumbwheel. I've got cheap ones that live in the workshop for rough work but they simply aren't as nice to use as the Mitutoyo as the display doesn't change instantly. Each to their own I suppose but if my best pair broke I wouldn't hesitate to replace them with another decent pair.

The other thing about cheap calipers, apart from not maintaining zero like the Mitutoyos is that the batteries don't last long.

Going to buy a set of mitutoyo from machine-dro. Got a cheap set. Just fancy a nice early Christmas present for me self.
