Big THANKS to the Southern Hunters and Buxted crews for putting on a great comp today. What amazing weather - considering the forecasts - thank heavens the wind (as well as the rain/snow) from yesterday failed to put in an appearance.

Yes very well shot Young Steve.

Nige calendars full for sure but equally so are some peoples self importance so they feel free to ride over all the effort other people have and are putting in to further and maintain such great series as the Southern Hunters. A series that years ago was the only option in a Southern Winter. But hey ho lets just shoot tin chickens on a Sunday and leave the uck ups to Westminster and eveyone else with a hidden agenda.

Belated thanks to Buxted for hosting what was a cracking round of the SH Series - despite my rifle dumping most of its air (resulting me shooting the majority of the course with about 60-70 bar) it was one of the most enjoyable courses I have ever shot.

Courses such as that don't just "happen", and given the atrocious weather conditions on Saturday when the Hobbits were setting out the course, all credit to them for taking the time and trouble to lay out such a corker (rather than just quickly chucking a few targets out and then buggering off to a nice warm pub - which is what I would have been tempted to do )

My abiding memory of the day? Taking aim at my final target (the micro lollipop on peg 25) with about 50 bar left in the cylinder, giving it just over 6 mildots of elevation - and knocking it over (much to my amazement!) I might have ended up with a really cr*p score of just 41, but I had huge fun doing so - and for me, that's what it's all about
