We have one club member who is a H&S Executive examiner/assessor - he occasionally goes around the locale measuring the sounds that come from our club, bearing in mind that the outside ranges are about half a mile from the adjacent village. His sound level plot was used to design the sound buffering of the construction of both our new range facilities. We even stop shooting when horses go horsing past, and have had no complaints from anybody, let alone club members.

It is in the nature of guns to go bang - some bangier than others - that, to my mind, is part of the appeal.

What really annoyed us was the noise from the road next to the house drowned out the noise of gunshots from the other side where the club is that's why when we did the test the first shot was missed
The club is Rotherham chantry http://rcrpsc.org.uk/5.html
Would it be possible for your secretery / person who designed the ranges to email/ring the secretary of chantry and give details of the soundproofing and baffles of your out door ranges? just say a former member sends his regards

One of our club members is an architect - it was he who designed the buildings, not the club secretary. You can see the new FP on tac's guns opening the new range facility. There's not much except an acoustic design [flooring and roofing materials as well as layered walls] in the basic materials from which the FP was constructed, helped by the fact that it is raised between one and one point five metres above ground.

The two structures would cost around £220K to replicate, btw.

And as I already noted, we are at least half a mile from the nearest habitation, and the houses there are further shielded by many tall trees and woods.
