VINTAGE .22 HY-SCORE 800 AIR PISTOL FOR SALE (American Version)

As header, vintage .22 Hy-Score 800 air pistol for sale. It did have damaged grips but thanks to a BBS member (he is OK about me selling them on the gun) who gave me this very nice contrasting black & tan pair, which I fitted, it is now in excellent condition. There is no rust or pitting, all the engraving stands out well but certain areas do show signs of wear as you would expect on a gun of this age. The spring feels very good and it cocks nice and smooth. I don't know if they all had it but this one has a dry fire feature where you push the catch forward, lift the cylinder a bit, close it and pull the trigger. It is the American version with the short barrel or was it the British one that had the shorter barrel, can't remember. All in all a nice looking example of the Hy-Score. £75 plus £7.50 carriage. This will have to go to your local RFD. Pictures below.

Rob there's no need to involve RFDs for private sales, especially of pistols which can comfortably go by RMSD.

A used air gun in a private sale can be sent directly to the purchaser there is no need to involve an RFD.

Yes, then it wouldn't be a private sale and the pistol could only be sent to another RFD, as I understand it, David.

Aren't RFDs discouraged from offering items for sale on this site? They can sell as a private individual if the item is from their own collection, so to speak but anything else - i.e. for shop profit is dealing, is it not?

Or am I opening a can of worms?

    Hello,

Out of interest, all the Hyscore pistols incorporated the 'dry fire, facility which also helped to provide a lighter trigger release weight.

The first pistol model of this innovative design was the 700 quickly followed by the 800 and shorter barreled 'Sporter' versions. When production ceased in the U.S. the pistol had a short revival here in the UK where the Phoenix version was made for a limited time.

There was also a multi-shot variant which had a rotary magazine fitted to the rear of the air chamber. Although a clever design, Iv'e found it takes almost as long to load the magazine as it does to insert individual pellets. It does however mean that you don't need to carry a pellet container if you are out and about with the pistol provided you don't plan on firing too many shots.

    Regards

    Brian

    Hy-Score pistols

Thanks Brian for the information, and I'm sure it will be of interest to lots of collectors. To clarify the sale, no RFD was ever involved, just a misunderstanding of the VCR Act's illogical rules.
