Nice to see you on, Neil.

    Hope you're keeping well.

Any projects on the go at the moment?

You could do with a tag line, you could.

Do many springers change hands at the Bash?

The reason I ask is a mate of mine was talking today about buying a springer, .177 underlever preferably and I told him to hold fire as I know the Bash is not far away now and if I'm off work that weekend I intend to make a visit there.

So, in short, does anyone intend to part with a decent 77,97,TX etc in April?

    Cheers.

There is normally a "Sales Table" there, Charlie, with guns that attendees are selling.

And, normally, about a fortnight or so before the Bash, a thread is started for attendees wanting to sell their guns and showing what they'll be bringing for sale.

P.S. Keep an eye out for any of Trumpetier's guns that may come up for sale.

He's a right old gun tart and just can't help himself..

Thanks for the quick reply Tony.

I got a cracking HW80 from a BBS member and I'm hoping my buddy can do the same and with a field full of pure boingyness I'm confident he will.

Good ol' Trumpetier . ( Does he have any underlevers?)

Did JS carry on doing the Oakwood Ale, then, or was it consigned to history back in the 70s?
No, it was replaced by JSs bitter, I remember sitting in my local, at that time it was the New Inn at Gawber, l was with a friend who had brought a mate with him who had a been a drayman, delivering the Oakwell brew to the local pubs for over thirty years. It happened it was at that moment in the pub when the landlord replaced an empty barrel which had been Barnsley Bitter with John Smiths Bitter and the ex-drayman immediately noticed the difference and as he was saying it the landlord wrote the time and date on the darts scoreboard that the first barrel of Smiths had been started.

Apparently it was not unknown for some draymen to drink anything between four and a eight pints a day depending on how many deliveries they made as the landlords used to give them a drink on delivering the beer. So this drayman new the taste so to speak.

    No worries.

There's a good chance that something nice and suitable will be available, I'd have thought. As previously mentioned, a thread usually goes live where different Boingerfolk put details of what guns and goodies they will bring for sale. It's just the one thread that peeps share, so as not to take up lots of space in the sales section.

As for Dave, who knows? He swaps and sells guns more often than a you-know-what!

Lovely little insight Mel, thank you.

Shame I never got to taste the Barnsley brew; although I do love the Smith's.

A "form of" Barnsley Bitter is currently brewed by a couple of local craft breweries in the area Tony and are very good. As to whether they match the original I can't say as I cannot clearly remember the exact taste of the Oakwell brew. It was afterall 46 years ago !

A bit sweeter than the original and not quite as dark as I recall John.

Cheers as we say, all the best.
