What is the best spring rifle for ratting?

The PCP users end up getting eaten alive when they run out of gas as the Rampant Rolands chew through their charging hoses, whereas the trusty old springers win the day!!

Okay then, chaps.

I've just received a message from Carl. And he's with us.......just......

He had gone down to his local pre-loved airgun emporium and got talked into a .177 Meteor, complete with wobbly breech. The shop owner convinced him that "these are right good ratty pellets" in some lightweight Prometheus pellets that had been gathering dust on the shelves.

Carl had wandered down to the bottom of the garden, said Meteor in hand. And there he was, The King Rat, looking all cocky. "Right then, you furry little f--k pig, this is it!", Carl said to himself. Ratty flinched. Carl snatched at the trigger and the shot went wide. The lightweight little round passed straight through said vermin without touching any vital parts. Ratty then jumped at Carl who fell backwards. Whilst making his bid for freedom. Ratty took a chunk out of Carl's, er, "gentleman's regions"!

He came round, concussed, in his local hospital, where he remains to this day. Suspected Weil's disease and a little tender.

However, he says it's not ALL bad, as he says he has the two fittest young nurses you could imagine having to tend to his wounded region with fresh dressings every two hours!

Carl has a .22 lined up and some Hobbies and vows to eradicate this monster rodent when he returns home.

Yep, a fully recovered, rejuvenated Carl with a manly .22, escorted by two hot chick nursy types marvelling at his prowess with an air arm as he executes vengeance on the fanged tosspot!

Carl said that, after the .177 debacle and ensuing ratty onslaught, he would even consider going to the super-butch quarter inch round, but he's feeling a little fragile and not sure if his fingers are up to snapping those big, fat .25s into a tight breech!
