Yes very ironic! I have bought a sealing kit to see if I can get one running....then look at it and wonder if it is worth it The 19 may get a new trigger and air stripper, sat here looking out of my window hoping not to see a rat but the Meteor is with me just incase

Hi Carl. Aside from your battery of springers, that 19 that you've mentioned - assuming it's a .22 - should be more than up to the task of a spot of garden-length rat busting. More power than the Meteor, easy to cock and load and no auto-safety to slow your rhythm. My SMK19GR (rammer) is a super barn gun...

    Hi Rabbit,
it was a gift in the last week or so, a spring version. I will upgrade it with a Woodfield guns trigger and an air stripper, I just checked and silencers cannot be posted! I don't mind it being Chinese as a lot of good stuff comes out of China including my wife

Chinese airguns are nothing like they were 30 years ago. I can't fault the build quality or finish on mine - certainly for a gun that cheap. The only thing that lets it down is the trigger, but that's mainly down to a basically flawed (non-Chinese) design, not Chinese manufacturing practices...

I will put a Woodfield guns trigger on it (£25) and maybe shorten the barrel a tad so that I can fit an air stripper. I will be investing money in it that some would argue is a waste but I won't be selling it so its money well spent as far as I am concerned.....now to find a way of crowning a barrel....

Not sure if I'm talking complete warlocks but I seem to remember someone saying they lapped the end of their barrel with grinding paste and a suitable size ball bearing? I suppose the bearing must have been fixed to something. Only a thought.

I suppose folks are using open sights for close ratting? If not what low mag scope would be good at a reasonable price?

Hi xbow, GGGR on here I think uses wet and dry and a marble and his guns shoot fine. I have bought a couple of decent scopes 2-6x32 from fleabay for around 30 pounds and they are great for my level of plinking, there is no need to go mad with a scope when it is going on a Meteor or other cheaper springer. I still manage to get good groups at 25 yards.

And a proper epic, just in time for the festive season!

    Not suitable for kids, though!

It will go down in the annels of Airgun folklore in the manner of Stanley Holloway's
    "Albert and the Lion" !
And be read to infant sparkly eyed mini airgunners before bedtime for many years to come !
