Sorted Out The Point Of Impact/Aim On My Umarex/KWC 1911

    Hi guys

I got a little bored earlier so i thought i would try sorting out the point of impact on my umarex/kwc 1911..

From day one at 6 yards and 20ft, it would shoot to the left around 1 inch from the point of aim, not an issue if your hitting big tin cans but for smaller things like spent shotgun shells and 1'' and 1.5'' steel targets that i shoot it could be a right pain, so i put a laser sight on the gun, So that was fine..

But today i thought i would try sorting that out, and it worked a treat, This is what i did.. I did it twice just so i could show you.

I got everything ready that i would need.. Make sure you use good quality, thick and strong aluminium tape.
(you can use a hammer or rubber mallet but my heavy rubber screw driver does a good job at being a hammer lol.)

Then i field stripped my 1911.

    http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...c/DSCN1200.jpg

Now i removed the inner barrel, when you do this make sure you remove the pin the holds the barrel in from the correct side. You want to punch the pin out from this side.

    http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...c/DSCN1202.jpg

Then you can just remove the pin with your fingers or pliers. And the inner barrel will then just slide out from the outta barrel..

    http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...c/DSCN1208.jpg

Measure and cut a piece of alloy tape the same size as the black plastic ring that sits over the inner barrel, and wrap it around, i done mine so it only just overlaps, you do not want to put a lot on as the inner barrel still needs to slide and move freely inside the outta barrel.

Also make sure you do not overlap onto the front lip of the black ring, this way the tape will not rub against the outta barrel and wear down quickly. I also made sure the tape overlapped on itself to the left side of the barrel as it shot to the left.

    http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...c/DSCN1204.jpg

Now put the inner barrel loosely back in the outta barrel and make sure it can still slide smoothly and freely, you should not feel any resistance at all, the only thing you should notice that there is less wobble at the front due to the inner barrel being more of a perfect/tighter/smoother fit.. (if you feel resistance remove the tape, its not needed in your gun)

Once you are happy, put the gun back together.

    http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...c/DSCN1209.jpg

This is how my 1911 is shooting now, as you can see the point of impact is center, now because this gun used to shoot to the left, i never used to use it much, (i dont like using lasers) but now it shoots straight i will be using it MUCH more, im a happy chappy..
This was just a quick free standing test pulling the trigger quite quickly so im sure the groupings with tighten up when i shoot more slowly etc..

    http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...c/DSCN1210.jpg

A word of advice though, even though alloy tape is thick and strong and very sticky, it will still wear over time, so make sure you check it now and then, i will check mine after 200 shots and then post a picture as well to show how much wear has happened, if happened, (do not use any other tape apart from strong aluminium tape)

Hope this helps someone, i will also do a video of this too, why not.
    Happy Shooting All

I have noticed that many bb pistols shoot to the left.
    I wonder why?
    What's wrong with the right?

    HI mate..
Lol your right, I have also had and noticed more guns when shoot off shoot to the left, maybe the people who made the machines that make the guns have be a wonky left eye, I'm sure that's it lol..

If we did not know better and have many many many different guns some could think it was our trigger finger positioning.. Pff if only if was lol.

Happy shooting all, hopefully not to the left but straight
    ATB Marc

I fitted an adjustable sight on my Witness a few years ago. Can move the point of impact wherever I want with a turn of a screw. This is a micro adjustable sight that fits straight in the witness machined dovetail.

Good grief that's an ugly pistol.

Is it made from a Caramac chocolate bar?

HI baz, have you got any more pictures and a link to where you got the sight from mate? I think it looks OK and sounds like it foes the job nicely. I'm interested in one myself

Hi Marc, the one in the pic came off of one of my .45 ACP pistols I carried in South Africa. You can buy then from the USA from companies like Midway or LPA. They are also on the bay, but they are not cheap. Perhaps the airsoft guys stock some types here in UK.
