Hi All
Picked up a few rifles and a pellet machine that had been idle for 50 years or so had a look at the machine think there may be a piece missing inside, anyone got one of these complete and working? would be nice to see if I could get it working.

In British slang an anorak is a person who has a very strong interest in niche subjects.
Will do taking photos with my phone not sure what I am doing?

Perfect for the traditional bell target club. Looks great, good luck finding/making the parts.

Wow ! That is one of the rarest and most interesting bits of hidden treasure ever to turn up on this forum. What a find !
Do you know where it came from originally ? Bridgend had a famous air rifle club. I would hang fire a bit before you try fixing it, somebody will have photo's of exactly what you need, if you wait long enough.
I wonder if they were dedicated pellet machines or if the internal mechanism, shared parts with machines for cigarettes etc. from the same maker.
What rifles came with it ? if you don't mind me asking ?

Hi
Not sure somewhere in South Wales near Bridgend, I am involved with the Bridgend and District air Rifle League (Bell target) an elderly gent gave me a call and asked if I was interested in some old target rifles and the machine was included. he reckons they have been in store for 50 years, the rifles back it up they are all BSAs from around 1925/30 must have come from a club.

I love stories like that it gives me hope !
Where the rifles in decent order ? If it was me, I would definitely try and get a bit more info as to the origins from the historical point of view, as its so rare for objects to remain together like that nowadays. My old chap was from by Tonyrefail and as you know there many keen shooters up there back in the day.
You do hear stories of old pubs closing down and bell targets and such like being unearthed !

Hi Silva
I did ask if he had any other info but the rifles belonged to his father in law and he found them when they cleared his house out after he passed away 20 years ago, he thinks he may have a bell target as well so there may be a bit more to come? I have been shooting bell target for 48 years and I have been doing a bit of research on the Bridgend League with the intention of writing a book on it, so I will find out all I can.
Hi all
Some more photos of the pellet slot machine and of the rifles that came with it.
It is 15 inches high and 6 x 4 inches in section
The wording on the penny slot reads:~
Close
Drawer Before
Inserting
Penny
The writing on plate at bottom reads:~
WATKINS, Patent
Automatic
Delivery Machines
Shrewsbury
I think there may be a part missing from the inside if anyone can shed light on it I would be very grateful. Pictures 7 & 8 are the only pieces that can be taken from the inside the rest of the fixtures are fixed, it looks as if the pellets were dispensed in small round boxes or tins?

Hi Jim, yours is a different size Wadkin to mine, If your magazine stack guides are circular, it dispensed small round cardboard packets larger, but in the style of those little containers gun roll caps used to come in years ago, I have seen these mentioned in the past. Have a look at page 21 here;

It was a way of getting club funds in and several companies made machines, I will have a look in my complete airgunner book as I think there are adverts in there, but am sure Avery did machines as well in different sizes.
Mine is smaller and has small oblong tins in, will get some pics up this weekend, but the internals are totally different to yours I am afraid so I can't offer help on what yours may be missing
Hi Mickey........It was a Malvern item
