    Silicon oil

I just read that it is not a good idea to use Silicon oil on the seals. I have a pump up pistol and it has a felt pad above the seal for oiling. I thought that silicone oils were ideal as they don't diesel and did not perish rubber seals???

Pure silicone oil is fine for seals, but is a problem in areas of metal to metal contact, where it can cause galling between moving parts.
