Second hand Umarex Peacemaker V Crosman SA6

I am a big fan of the Peacemaker and have more than one.
I recently bought a vgc second hand boxed one in black -cheap.

Poor accuracy until I cleaned the barrel then fine!
I thought it was the shells but not so.

I have a couple of SA6s and although they are stripped, polished and have wood grips they are a bit dowdy compared to the newcomer.
They shoot .22 pellets loaded at the front and are a few decades old now!

There is no comparison in accuracy.
    The SA6 wins
At 6 yards standing one hand shooting the bull vanishes.

The Umarex has the fps and the looks and the occasional bull.

The SA6 can be fanned too -with no accuracy!

    Pellet gun wins again.

I fired up my old Hahn which shoots H&N lead ball for another trial and this one is much less accurate than the Umarex.
So maybe a fairer comparison and shows how far BB guns have come.

    Interesting comparison.

    I have an SA6 .22 and a new Umarex Peacemaker .177.
Only ever shot the SA6 once, can't remember how accurate it was.
I do remember how awkward the loading was.
Again, I have only shot my Umarex once, to test it out of the box.
I was impressed at the consistency of the shot placement on the Umarex and it's smooth trigger.
I will have to gas them up both up and test them out side by side.
    Thanks for the inspiration

SA6 must be the most awkward loader ever!

The Crosman 38T is pretty fiddly too...

I am looking forward very much to the regular appearance of Umarex Colt SAA's on the second hand market. The volume being sold will ensure this happens and will for me provide a source of them that I can customise to my heart's content.

Not something I want to do with the full price three new one's that I have.

I have an SA6,too,but as functional and relatively powerful as it is,it lacks the 'wow' factor of the Umarex Colt.

Its worth cleaning inside the Peacemaker shells with cotton buds and a little lube. A couple of mine felt gritty and gave the odd flyer till i did this. I use the Qtips to clean the barrel too. Push down from muzzle to cylinder with wooden skewer and fire out. ATB. Pete.

I had some new shells so I used those to test the problem.
But it was the barrel clean that sorted it.
Odd but Umarex do say clean it.

Maybe the previous owner was keen on using ammo other than steel BBs.
    Pellets,lead ball,potatoes?

Have read elsewhere that silicone oil is bad news for metal to metal contact

I think it odd really that the Umarex Colt SAA being so well made has no removable cylinder, which would aid easier cleaning. This leaves the door open to a competitor to include this feature. The Webley MKV1 with the exception of the needless safety,(also needless on the SAA) is as good a replica as could reasonably be made in a Co2 pistol and leaves no room for improvement and the cylinder,of course can be removed.

The Webley is noticeably better made than the Colt IMO.

Considering both guns are made as far as I know by WinGun I wonder what they were thinking?
