    De cocking HW77

Does anyone know if you can decock a hw77 mk2, I've tried holding the cocking lever and pulling the trigger in a similar fashion to a break barrel however this does not work.
Is it me being daft or does the mk2 mechanism not allow this to happen

Just push the cocking lever slightly forward and it should fire but get ready to hold it tight. have always de cocked mine this way since i bought it in the mid 80s, The little prongs on the bear trap slide have bent slightly over the years.

You can't de cock them if the anti bear trap is fitted.

    Minor design flaw...

The anti beartrap isn't All it does is stop the trigger working while the lever is back, if the trigger were to fail you would still lose your fingers if not holding the lever. I remove it on mine as I like to be able to safely decock the rifle. But then again, I never let go of the cocking arm.

And still wince when my thumbs in there!

Aye, it's a trigger lock. So if it doesn't lock the trigger - there's even less point in having it on there.

    I stand corrected, sir.

    Must be my faulty technique.

Eh? Are you sure there's not something wrong, then?

As per the man with the Titanium Backside, I prefer to remove the "ABT" / trigger lock.

It does have a ABT fitted which I suspected may prevent de cocking.

I think its as the two lugs on the end of mine are bent upwards slightly, So by right it should not de cock. have always held the but into my body and held the lever with my left hand when loading even with the safety working fine. can never be sure

Good idea young Phil, and something I've often thought of doing but never actually done.

After I stripped it and re assembled the gun I thought I'd messed up On the assembly. I committed a deadly sin as I had no where to fire it safely and had to dry fire😱
