Martini Henry Carbine in 450/577 Obsolete Calibre

Just added a Martini Henry Carbine in 450/577 Obsolete Calibre to the collection photographs of it are in my Flickr albuns if you are interested in having a look at them.
The Brass stock roundel stamped YK RGM which I would guess is for the Yorkshire Regiment.
How much are these selling for?

The answer to that question lies somewhere in the area of 'how much did YOU pay for it?'

I don't know but......it looks identical to the 1876 Martini Henry Bayonet that I have here.

Think the 53 is just over 20" long and the 76 about 25" long.

    Hi. Steve
The overall length is 25-1/4" Blade is 22" it's looking like it's an 1876 as you suggested, but it doesn't fit the Martini Henry carbine I have got.
Looked up the measurements for the 1876 Martini Henry Bayonet and it is without doubt a 1876 Bayonet.
    Well Identified Steve.

If it is legit (not a Kyber-Pass job) , I would say between £275 and £325. Hope this helps.

It's an Enfield manufactured 450/577 which has been sold out of service from the military.

An excellent addition to your collection.
Here's a couple of links to help

    http://www.martinihenry.com/carbines.htm

    http://www.martinihenry.org/index.ph...ory&path=61_60

and the best people to ask are at British Militaria forum

As for value I'd at least double the amount, it depends on overall condition and if it hasn't been cut across the breech as many out of service were. Unfortunately there are quite a few about that have been welded up and are hard to detect.
There's a private purchase one for sale at JC Militaria for £1275

The action is dated 1877 as far as I can see it has not been cut in front of the breech.
Have a look at a previous Martini Henry .303 that failed Proof.
