    A Morning's Plinking !

Took my .22 Tempest out this morning on my little 10m range in the garden, very enjoyable !
Being trying various pellet brands over the last few weeks the best up to date are the Defiant Vintage 5.6mm 14.5 gr !

Any others I ought to try which may "better" these ?
    Thanks.

For what you might call 'medium range' for the pistol - up to 10M - I'd be trying a tin of Hobbys John.

Cheap and cheerful .22 match pellets, light weight, seem to go well in the larger bores, and cut a clean 'wad' in a card target.

I'm sure they'd be OK John.

My .22 Tempest pushed the 11.8gr Hobbys out at 350 FPS.

I think with most 'regular' .22s being 14gr upwards, they'd be a bit heavy / going too slow... and more expensive!

Most folks I've ever met plinking with pistols, would be using something like Hobby, Geco, or Bisley Practice, or dearer match pellets. Which are generally lighter than reg'lar domed ammo. The Hobbys (and I think the Bisleys), being also available in the No2 bore.

    Recommend a pistol for me

    Hi pistol packers.

I'm usually a rifle shooter and in fact just sold the only pistol I ever owned, a Gamo AF 10. I'd had a lot of fun with it when I lived and worked in Spain but it sat idle for years.

Oddly I now fancy getting another pistol for some fun target shooting with friends and family, so here are my requirements:

    No more than £80

    .177 (cheaper pellets)

    Robust

    Not too large or heavy

break barrel or co2 I think

Reasonably accurate with good open sights only

    what do you suggest ?

Also what is the range for shooting targets, strictly for fun, 6 or 10 metres ?

i anticipate your answers with interest

    thanks

    Steve
