tested a 98 shrouded .20 16" barrel on it and it was stunning to shoot, the thing hardly moved but knew I could not live with the front heavy feel.
So you are at 74mm stroke, compred with the 99s @ 71mm
If you had a longer barrel it would be better (like the 99)
If you shortened the stroke another 2mm (longer nose ext), it would be a fraction quicker / better (like the 99)
If you had both, it would be better
I think it's mostly the barrel (length) though...
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

86mm on mine... so reducing by 12-13mm makes sense (maybe even just 10mm if .177)

Short stroking mine in .20 caliber ?

Might have a go when I get some time , I've got a 97 piston I fitted with a longer latch rod and don't seem to have the time to fit it in my rifle .
Do must pull my finger out.

When Bigtoe tuned my 95 he made up a sleeve and had Colin Malloy blue it. For me it's perfect, just enough weight to control muzzle flip but nowhere near as front heavy as a 98.
