Roll up! Roll up! Free beer on Sunday June 12th!

It’s fast approaching that time of year again folks, when Meon Valley Airgun Club play host to The Bowman Classic Open Shoot. As in previous years, Bowman Ales (a local real ale micro-brewery) are kindly putting up several gallons of their fine product as prizes on the day.

For those not familiar with the format of this competition, your entry fee of just £10 buys you 3 courses to shoot – a regular 30 shot HFT course, a 20 shot “tactical gamble” course where you decide whether to take the shot kneeling, standing or even pass with points being added and subtracted depending upon your success (or not!), and a 20 shot pistol HFT course. If you have a sub-6lbs/ft air pistol, you are every welcome to bring it along, but for those who don’t we have a selection of pistols available for you to borrow at no charge.

Beer and trophies will be awarded for the victors on each course, together with further prizes (and yet more beer!) for the overall winner on aggregate – and all this for just £10! Not even Hot Doris, a local lady of some repute renowned for her readily negotiable favours offers so much “bang for your buck” (so I am reliably informed, you understand)

The day’s proceedings kick off at 10.00AM, with signing on from about 8.30am-ish and the obligatory safety brief around 9.45am, and take place in our stunningly beautiful grounds at Hen Woods in the Meon Valley between Petersfield and Winchester (nearest postcode GU32 1HY or see our website for directions and further details)

Does it not have to be sub 6 ft/lb to be a pistol

    Shh STU!

I'm trying to make them think it's going to be easy I haven't told them about the reverse plate kill zone and the 11mm kill that looks like a 40mm kill, + the one where the kill sit's 8" back from the plate....you know..The one through the bent piece of air ducting pipe.

    Just don't tell them anything..OK

Can I not even mention that they need to learn the aim points for targets elevated in excess of 70°, or that you can indeed shoot a rat up a drainpipe?

Thanks to everyone at Meon for an excellent day - that was a huge effort to lay on three courses, all enjoyable and we were really lucky with the weather!

Looking forward to next year already

    Thanks Charles!

And we'll done on winning evething in sight..LOL! (well almost)

Joking aside, it was great to see so many people turn up, despite the weather forecast, over 80 shooters!

It seems everyone enjoyed the day, epically the Pistol Shooting.

Will post the results very soon.

A BIG THANK YOU to all that made the journey to Hen Woods and made all the effort worth while,

And to the sponsors for the free beer its a lovely drop of stuff to end a long day.

You have a super venue and I will definitely be back again someday soon.

Well done Charles and all the other winners on a very tough course.

Really glad you enjoyed the day Tugg's, the Pistol HFT is my favourite, can never understand why people always stand to shoot in the pistol course and forget they can kneel or prone the shots mind you I did get some stick for taking a short prone :

Hope to see you there again next year
