Southern Hunters Series dates for 2016/17

I am happy to say the clubs have agreed the following dates for the next season of Southern Hunters:
    06/11/2016 Buxted
    27/11/2016 Meon Valley
    18/12/2016 Oaks
    08/01/2017 Cambridge
    22/01/2017 Horsham
    05/02/2017 MAD
    26/02/2017 Lea Valley
    12/03/2017 Ford
    26/03/2017 Bisley
This time we have 9 rounds, we will be adding a new venue with Meon Valley hosting their first SHS round.
We are also adding a new class for the end of season awards - currently going under the title of "Combined Class" - this is aimed at those who like to change guns through the season, you will need 2 scores in open, two in 0.22 and two in recoil to make up your six scores - should be fun!

A query . Hi Charles, once again thanks for all the work you put into the Southern Hunters. Is it possible that there will be a tenth comp added so that for those trophy hunters can do the six comps in one chosen class like the recoiling then do a couple in 22 and a couple in the open or is this going to be a way of restricting people to one class.

We don't have a tenth planned at present but never say never....

How comes a new club has got in but Iden Ferns is still out ?? .... IMHO still one of the better grounds to shoot at , layout wise .
Do folk want this club to really drop off the HFT map ?

First of all let me say that I have nothing to do with The Southern Humters that is a bag that in my opinion is being carried managed and improved by the dedicated people who have taken on the mantle, well done Charles, Terry and Chris.

However over the last few years I have been heavily involved in the SiHFT administration and have been instrumental in welcoming Iden Ferns into the competition some Iden Ferns members actually shooting for Buxted in the formative years of the competition before Iden were welcomed with open arms into the competition as a none hosting team. A position they obviously no longer want as over the last few seasons they have rarely field a full team.

During these years I feel people were under some misconception that they were full members of the competion and as such had or should have hosting rites. They were invited guests the SIHFT is and always will be a competition for the original five clubs. Guest clubs may and always have been since the very first year invited. Invited being the operative word and this invitation is at the discretion of the five hosting club heads.

From personal experience I can only say that trying to organise anything with previous Iden Ferns organisers has proved difficult in the least. I have personally spoken with Iden members to organise dates for end of season hosting offers on numerous occasions over the years and have gotten nowhere so had to schedule the event elsewhere.

It is a great venue but if members want to host regional events I suggest they actually pool their resources get their fingers out of their arssssses and organise themselves to a position where they can communicate effectively with people trying to organise and run a regional series.

I agree it is a great venue but if you haven't got communicators you will get nowhere, as organisers need communication. Calendars don't create themselves nad organisers need commitment from clubs, dates are planned months in advance and have so many other series to work around.

Chinese wisphers is not a shooting game.

I doubt it will they have quite a large core membership, it's up to them if they want to welcome people in and venture out. But without effective committed organisation within they will not instill confidence in organisers. If the new management grasp the nettle then I am sure anything is achievable. However there are so many things going on country wide they will need to be proactive as the old guard have left a legacy.

As the change of hands was going on while the schedule was being set for the new season we did not have anyone we could discuss dates with. I am however confident we will be back at Iden in the near future and wish the new management all the best!

Just where is Richlings Park? Google has been sod-all help as it seems to find an area near the M4/M25 junction but that's also known as Richings Park so I'm confused.
