What time would you recommend I get there for Air 1 tomorrow?
Thanks
Neil
Hi Neil
Would suggest 2.15 ish (1 hour before set up time)
Helen Preston (Harry's daughter) gave me a tip at the N Wales comp, after driving to a comp you need time to settle as the vibration from the steering wheel affects the arm.
See you there.

Thanks for the advice Dave.
See you there.

Hi All,
After some ducking and diving it turns out that I am available for this weekend....
Does anyone on here have contact details for the organizer? The entry form only shows postal address.
I would love to enter my first competition with an air pistol too!
An email or phone number would be most helpful, did someone get their squading details via email?
Thanks, Mike

Let us know how you get on Mike.
Good luck in the comp everybody.
I should be used to pistol competitions as we have them almost every week at the club, M.P.L., C.C.L., Dorset, RR v RGC, (Beat The Hippo - he doesn't know about that one .) etc but Im already showing signs of nerves and Ive not even set off yet.
Good luck everyone.

My car spat out its (new, week old) radiator drain screw somewhere (luckily really) between my house and the M56.... strong smell of antifreeze, quick look down, temp gauge heading skyward... bugger, not getting there for 10am....
Couple of hrs later and I'm leaving home again in the family car, a little miffed and not knowing if I'll get another slot when I arrive...
So thank you Kevin for squeezing me in when I did show up!

It appears that turning up to a competition with a 'new to you pistol' assuming that 15 minutes sighting time is enough to tweek it to where you want to aim is a grave mistake!
Clearly this LP1 had seen service at some other range than 10m.... First set of sighters and no holes!
Panic setting in, I think quick and convince myself that it must have been used at 20 or 25m so started some large dialing in of elevation, but as panic was gripping me it appears that I dialed the wrong way!
OMG where are the pellets going now?? Then a helpful 'CLANG' told me up on the light shade! Sorry club...
So I start bringing it down, clearly I was attracting attention from the guy to my right, I could see him looking across and I knew what he was thinking...... there was a guy shooting a Pardini to my left but luckily he was fully zoned in so I don't think he noticed the bungling idiot to his right! So now I've got holes on the card.. just off the center line to the right by about an inch but just on the card in elevation... from half a hole to the lowest in the 3 ring... then some nice chap says 'END of Sighting time' Mike is in trouble now!
So it was time to improvise, I gave the sighting card a hard stare, and thought just aim at the bottom of the card and it will be there or there abouts... it was a plan at least.
First two shots were in the black but still a little high so I sent the next 58 pellets down range whilst 'aiming' at an imaginary point on the return cord!
To be fair it could have been worse, bar a handful of 'called' flyers I managed to keep it in the black!
Cherry popped and some lessons learnt!
1. The LP1 has a full range of 117 clicks of vertical adjustment!
2. Setting it to roughly center (60 clicks) doesn't bring it onto the target at 10m...
3. Knowing when to call it a day...
Thanks to the the range officer who took pity on me and allowed me to try and zero it at the end... that's when I discovered when to call it a day!
So, a quick sorry to the lad on my right, I hope you shot straight whilst internally laughing your socks off...
Anyone with any better excuses?
