That's an incredible price. I was watching this auction myself as I was interested to see how much a Tell 3 might fetch in its country of origin and I certainly never expected that. Perhaps more of these pistols were exported than were sold on the home market, so now making them particularly rare and desirable to German collectors? Anyway, I know what to do now if I ever decide to sell mine!

I wouldn't have been surprised if a boxed Tell 3 in this condition made £1000 in this country, but I would never have believed it would sell for the price it eventually did albeit in It's home country.

The post-war version might fetch even more!

The Tell 3 wasn't sold in this neck of the woods.

    [QUOTE l have se/nos from 4 up to 871[/QUOTE]

    What all of them !

Only kidding. It might be interesting to record what Ser Nos are owned by BBS members. I will dig mine out to add to the list. I bet there won't be all that many.

Just checked the Ser No stamped on my Tell 3 which is 49.

It's not in best condition cosmetically, but is complete and seems to shoot as well as it probably ever did.

    Regards

Sad but this to me is at the top of my air pistol bucket list, not that it has to have a box or be in great shape. But I will probably never see one. Have to settle for a Haenel 28, same era and at least doable.
