Fun with a Milbro Diana G4
Having just arranged for the club's engineering maestro to make me a couple of synthetic spring guides for my pistols, what a transformation in performance.
Early variants made up until the mid 1960s were fitted with conventional spring guides and are smooth enough to use but on later versions, a long mainspring with some 2 inches of preload was held in place by the end cap only. This often results in spring distortion and a horrible grinding noise during use. Fitting a guide smooths the cocking stroke no end and the pistol seems more pokey too. It is a pleasure to use and more accurate on tin cans than CO2 clones for example.
Definitely an underrated design...
