    Bsa lightning

Can anyone recommend which bsa lightning is better? With the se, xl, tactical and grt models is it just looks or is there any improvements between models. Or would you personally bypass them altogether and stick with hw or aa?

If I was spending money on a springer, I'd go for an HW99s. Generally allround better. I went through the process 18 months ago and love mine!

I considered getting a lighting, they do look nice. Fortunately before I spent anything I got to shoot a friends tactical. It was a horrible, jumpy, noisy not very accurate rifle IMHO. Awful trigger too. All the rifles I own are worlds ahead of that lightning I shot, so glad I didn't waste my cash on one. Stick with HW or AA.

Some people love the BSA though. Try and find one to shoot before buying is my advice.

A 650cc Lightning would be my choice.

Sorry I have no recent experience bit I used to shoot a friend's a few years back and it was ok. Don't know how much work was required to get it that way. I would consider one if I was looking for a project

I had a brum made lightning as my first air rifle and it was ok, would I buy one again? No not for the price they go for I would look at the hw95 or 99s. I have 99s in .177 and it may not be as nice to look at but it more accurate and nicer to shoot.

Had my lightning xl se for nearly 3 months now. Beautiful stock, lightweight, quality build and accurate. I really love shooting this gun so much I'm tempted to get one in 1.77.

The best BSA Lightning is an HW95K, similar money, but more likely to get a good one than a BSA!

I craved for a Lightning for years, when I finally got one I got shot of it quickly.
Good looker, but a truly horrible rifle.
My keeper springer now is a HW95k with a tinbum drop in kit.
    Chalk and Cheese !
    Good Luck.

One to look at, if you can find one in a dealers, may be a Diana 280c, since Edgar Brothers started distributing them prices got a lot more reasonable!

What he said....I bought a .22 tactical, didn't rate it at all I'm afraid. Harsh and ate breech seals for some reason. Deisled badly from new.

I can only assume that the aforementioned issues were dealt with under warranty. I personally have absolutely no issues at all with mine, and there are many good unbiased reviews for these well made guns.

I'm unbiased. I bought one and didn't like it. Bought a BSA Ultra and love it. Had lots of air rifles, most were better to shoot than the Lightning in my opinion. I wouldn't buy another.

Show me a magazine with a bad review......But that's the subject of another thread done to death some time ago.

If you like your Lightning, great. I'm afraid you seem to outnumbered by those on here that don't.

As said, I still own a great BSA but sold a rubbish one.
