Feinwerkbau efficiency and truthfullness called into question: EU to investigate. Lol

I emailed Feinwerkbau to see when my recently acquired Feinwerkbau 65 was manufactured. They responded the next day: impressive!

    "Dear Mr. Kitchen,

Thank you for your email dated June 30th, 2016.

Please note that the year of manufacture of your air pistol model 65 with the serial number 104001 is 1979.

Unfortunately we do not have the information regarding the serial number of the first long tang 65.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen l kind regards

My pistol came in the box it was shipped in. Here are the pics:

The gun was postmarked 1/2/79. Got the feeling it's a 1978!

Actually praise to the company for getting back to me so quickly even if the info may be a couple of months off.

You're right, it must be 1978! Probably late 1978, not 1979 as they said.

If FWB had precise factory ledgers covering that period they would have given you a more exact date, probably. The first FWB65 pistols came complete with cards showing the day/month/year of manufacture.

If it was shipped in February 1979, why couldn't it have been made in January?
The South of England has 2 good things, the M1 and the A1. Both will take you to Yorkshire.

1/2/79 Is the second of January '79 if'n you're an American.

That's when it was shipped across the USA, from Beeman's to Northwest Guns & Ammo.

Which doesn't leave much time for it to have been made in Germany in '79, and received at Beeman's in California, on or before "January 2nd".

    UK: dd/mm/yyyy.

    USA: mm/dd/yyyy.

Sorry should have said January 2, 1979. Trying to be funny isn't easy.

    You say December 25th.

We say the 25th of December.

    Both are equally Christmassy.

It defies logic that the sequence should be noted mm/dd/yyyy After the 12 day it is easy enough to decipher

It will confuse the hell out of the USA when the calender is metricated The question is, will they get into line with the rest of the world and how long will it take??

BTW, that is a clean looking FWB 65 you have there flint.
