Yeah, but generally you'll pay a lot more for your rifle there anyway.Originally Posted by Air Gunner

"Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life son" Dean Wormer.
and i wonder why.
what with all of the over heads that local shops have it is a wonder that the mail order companies havnt put them out of business by cutting prices to the bone
stop whinging and support your local shop cos once it is gone it's gone!
and that includes all of that knowledge that the staff have and all of the little favours that they do.
Well said that man!
Wasnt, and I do.Originally Posted by daystateman

i done this when i got my logun s16shrouded,done it over 3 months, bloody good idea, new rifles out are the same amount in woodies as uttings etc,no interest and find them to be quite helpful....just give em a ring and see 02089027217

What they say about credit cards is correct.
My better half is in finance and threatened me with blunt rusty objects if I considered using finance (uttings or otherwise).
I dont think it works out too well if you come into cash and want to pay it off quickly either
29% is a hell of a wad to pay extra.
Save up if you can...I cant (did it once but nearly died of impatience )...or do it on a credit card...carefully
Price Difference between Mail Order and Shops
Work it out, one is Stocked & Staffed and normally in a good Location
With high building & running costs
Another is buried away and only staffed fully when orders arrive
In many cases, not needing to keep much stock until orders arrive.
As many firms these day's offer lower prices when you do not have to deal with people
As order on Line , less 5-10% of prices - services.
Workers need paying and a place to work
What really get's me is Shooters that spend Hours in a Shop
looking at possible outfit's
To go away and buy via Mail Order
Then have check to walk into the shop and ask the Dealer to set up the outfit for them
Which they most probably would have done if they had purchased it from them
Service costs money
But as many are finding out the hard way when buying a Gun
that they often go wrong and need to be returned to supplying dealer
And carriage for Gun's is getting very expensive these days and can easerly wipe out any earlier savings.

So thats why you do stuff on mail order then BOBOriginally Posted by clubshot
Personally, I agree with that sentiment. I do support my local shop, and would not buy a rifle or large item anywhere else.
Sometimes, they cannot get items in on an individual basis, as they cant compete with the buying power of the bigger mail order companies...all of whom have been helpfull and have given away usefull bits of info...no cup of tea granted, and no little favours.
The problem seems to be that, with this huge differential between overheads, even when shop owners should tell people to sod off, they still see it as a potential loss of a customer, so help anyway. I have seen it many times in my local. The owner is obviously loath to help, but thinks that to do so is the responsible thing...A good bloke.
The way things are going, and licensing comes in, a trip to your local shop may well mean you have to visit them, like it or not...think about it
Cant see what all this has to do with buying on finance though
