another post about parcel force 48hr express.

Having decided to reduce my Weihrauch collection over the last two weeks or so have had to use this our only method of posting Air rifles in the next village,s post office 4 times with no problems, one even took only 24 hours which was to Hull Cartridge for repair .Yesterday I turned up with my fifth long box to be greeted by not my usual post mistress Stella but the holiday relief ,told her it was an air rifle sub 12ft/lbs which is used for sporting use,YOU CANNOT SEND THEM was her reply WHAT I have sent 4 in the last two weeks with sub 12ft/lbs written on the bloody box, they are not allowed showing my the banned items list, told politely by me that pamphlet no what ever middle section says sub 12ft/lbs sporting spring powered are allowed,OH she said they tell us all are classed as firearms, .After I explained and showed her the section she was reassured then asked did I want the extended value cover told her we can only have the £100 max which is wrong she said. Was I bloody glad to get home and follow its way through the system even though it was slow feel another 72 hour job coming up as the previous one was early .why are these people not trained properly and all given the same information ,come back Stella

The scope I sent yesterday was a toy train. I really cannot be bothered getting into the debate/rigmarole (sp?) that is sure to follow when I say the words "Rifle scope"

A couple of times thast I have sent the stock for alteration I just told them it was wooden carvings, which they are, but don't mention anything to do with rifles or gun. As one posted it is not worth getting into a debate regarding what is allowed or not.

The woman in the post office can't believe how much bad luck I've had with my motorcycle exhaust.

I just say it’s optics never been ask to elaborate on that and if it goes missing and I make a claim they can’t argue.

This is all true. Any time I send any reloading items it's just metal working tools. Scopes are optics or if they ask me to elabourate I say a telescope. I find with post it pays to be as vague as possible.

I tryed to send a stock air mail to the US and Germany and they sent them back to me as a restricted item, there was on metal or working parts just a shaped piece of wood. I did phone them and asked if i could send a cricket bat air mail and they said that would be OK.

Then you are all extending the problem by not explaining to the jobs-worth concerned that they are wrong & the items are perfectly legal to send.

Surely the more staff who know the better to spread the word around their colleagues

I dispair at the attitude of hiding anything to do with guns/shooting that some on here seem to display.

The staff in my local Post Office are a nightmare - it once took me 10mins to explain that pellets aren't ammunition.

I just say lead mouldings now.

    Rifle scopes are telescopes.

    Scope mounts are metal rings.

    Silencers are metal tubing.

I just haven't got the time or inclination to stand there trying to educate pork. I'd be unemployed in a week if I didn't know the finer points of my job.

    All of the above.

Don't feel persecuted because the post office are difficult about air rifles..

There difficult about watches as well

"Does it have a battery? "

    "No it's a mechanical watch"

"But does it have a battery"

    "No it's clockwork"

"That's impossible it must have a battery, is it fitted? "

"Its clockwork it's sort of where the word comes from"

Fortunately I was wearing an automatic watch with a glass back, so explained whilst the que built up
