    Damn this reloading malarkey!

After saying on a post here a while ago I wanted to reload with minimalist and cheapest equipment, I have just taken delivery of 2 sets of dies for .243 and .308, lee scales to replace my auction site cheapies, a proper press to replace my rubber mallet, case lube......

Now do I REALLY need a tumbler

    Addictive aint it!

Reloading doesn't save you money as you just shoot more.
You only just scratched the surface lol

    True, lol.

What reloading will do is give you a better quality (read: consistent) round at the same price as surplus, just don't factor in a cost for your time. It will also be very therapeutic and get you away from wife/kids/chores* and develop a better understanding and appreciation of your shooting.

    *delete any as appropriate.
Good deals with: Muskett, Dreben, roger.kerry, TALL, Helidave1, Chelseablue, Leeroy7031, Mousemann, pnuk, Practical, NEWFI, HOOGS, Webb22, lazybones1416 and deanw5262 among others. Thanks Guys.

I think the question is do you really WANT a tumbler lol. When you consider what you really need to reload ammo the list is quite short. I would say however after reloading for 10+ years starting out thinking I need the bear minimum like you I have been addicted to it and probably spent thousands on it😭
It's a slippery slope I'm afraid, but so long as the wife doesent find out then who cares😉

It's pretty hard to hide all that kit. My method is to slowly introduce stuff so she doesn't notice

The amount of kit you end up with is ridiculous, I reload for 6BR, ive actually just sold a lot of gear I didn't use anymore.

Good post, and perfectly summed up sarge.
Been reloading for years, and at one time it was a doubly whammy, as you saved a shed load over considerably inferior factory ammo, AND had the big plus of considerably more accuracy.
Nowadays, the quality of factory ammo has moved on somewhat, and the cost of reloading components has made things not as favourable in the money saving stakes when reloading, but it is still a very enjoyable and rewarding hobby when you are rolling your own that will shoot silly groups at 100m +
As for the case cleaner, you will definitely be needing one as you become more and more fanatical about your nice shiny cases, reloading is addictive.

OOO Yes! Stainless Steel pins are the way to go if you like a bit of bling.

If your an inveterate fiddler the slope is rather steep. Phil384 ,I'm glad to see I'm not alone as a covert collector.

Just my view but you might do better without the lee scales and go for a lyman or rcbs scale they are so much better

In my opinion if shiny brass shot better than clean dull brass I would get a tumbler/ultrasonic cleaner, but as it makes no difference I would suggest your money would be better spent on a reloading manual such as the ABC of Reloading and with the change buy yourself the Redding Deluxe dies - they will never let you down.

Not long had the Lee dies and the Lee Powder scales were recommended to me

I'll stick with what I've got for the mo. Can anyone recommend a case lube or all they pretty much the same?
