    Webley Hurricane advice

    Hello

I have just become the proud owner of a Webley Hurricane .22 pistol

I've just been firing it with some Crosman Premier Ultra Magnum .22 pellets I got & have some questions you may be able to help with.

The barrel of the Hurricane shows .22 5.6 cal but my pellets are 5.5.

Will the difference in size make any difference or indeed could it damage it ? (The pellets do seem to slip into the barrel very easily), certainly much easier than the .177's do in my Tempest. I've never had a .22 gun before.

Is it possible to get 5.6 .22 pellets?

Are there any recommendations for a good pellet for this gun? I just plink cans, targets etc in the garage.

    Many thanks for any help

    Dave

.22 Bisley Wasp 5.6mm in the blue tin come to mind, although I have heard the quality can be suspect.

Blue tin Wasp 5.6 are nothing like the original Eley quality. Given the short range though they will be ok. Marksman 5.6 are also reasonable, again, not for long range. Also worth trying different 5.5 makes that can also work in old 5.6 barrels, my BSA Mercury .22 likes Milbro Caledonians and my Webley Mk3 likes RWS Superdomes. The fun is testing them on target and seeing which group closest.

    Hello

Thanks for that i'll have a look out for those pellets mentioned

I take it that apart from the pellet being looser in the barrel, it can't cause any damage etc if the pellet is slightly smaller than it should be if I do use 5.5's?

    Cheers

Undersized no problem. Pellets are basically soft lead compared to the steel rifled barrel.

Apart from the original Eley Wasp 5.6 (Blue Tin) pellets there's always the Defiant Vintage 5.6 alloy pellets !
However rumour has it they will soon be going out of production.

I use both to good effect in my Mk. 1 Premier and newer Tempest !

Been discussed a few times now maybe you can find them through I search
    Forget the 5.6 size
Mine shoots best with FTT 5.53

Hobby. All day long. Absolutely no point in using expensive domed rifle pellets in a Webley.

Unless they've drastically changed the Crosman pellets, you'll be lucky if they shoot well through a Webley .22 barrell. I always found them to be well under sized.
This has nothing to do with 5.5mm vs 5.6mm as I always found Hobbies and othe RWS pellets to be great in them, and they're all 5.5mm as well.
The South of England has 2 good things, the M1 and the A1. Both will take you to Yorkshire.

decent quality "larger" .22 pellets that can work well in my 5.6mm barrels:

    RWS Superdome
    Defiant vintage
    Bisley LRG
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

I'm using RWS Superdomes in my .22 Hurricane, they're 5.5mm but still work well, they also do pretty good out of my older BSA's like the Airsporter & Mercury.
