Whats reasonable in terms of scoring with a Free Pistol (.22RF)

    Hi Guys
I have recently bought a CM84e Free Pistol and am shooting at 25m.
This is a great pistol, long sight radius and extremely accurate.

What is a reasonable score using PL8 targets? Im scoring averages of about 86 ex 100 but have really only begun to start to look at and practice seriously with the pistol.

A PL8 target is for Standard Pistol,ie timed shooting,so whilst 186 is a very reasonable score,it's not really indicative of what you'd score at 50m. If you can you would be better shooting at 20 yards on a PL14 target as that is in scale with a 50m target.

Great advice, thanks. I have some PL14's and getting some shooting in at 20 yards is easier on our range than it is getting on at 50M so should be able to put some scores in and see how I get on.
Im really enjoying the CM84e the more I shoot it, great pistol!

They really are, another bit of advise would be if you have a single stage trigger don't set the trigger weight too light, you need to able to feel the break as you increase trigger pressure

I'm posting from a position of ignorance as I don't shoot pistol. But at my club they use PL15s for Pistol and PL14s for LSR at 20 yards.

    Thanks again
The pistol has 3 trigger springs with it, mine is fitted with spring number one. I have tightened the trigger somewhat and see what you mean, it was quite light prior

The PL15 is indeed for 20yard air pistol, however it is one scoring ring different, the PL14,which is for LSR is the one that scales up to a 50m free pistol target,I know this to my cost as I was once DQ'ed from the ELEY postal comp for accidentally shooting the .22lr comp on PL15's!!

Ive just had a look at the new November entries for Eley postal, it says that I could use PL19 at 25m for the pistol comp, I doubt my club will allow me to shoot from 20yards so this would be my option. We shoot these now from 25 so just a case of pracyice, will probably have a go at the eley this year.
