Cool Sussex Interclub HFT 2016 - Round 9 Results

    Hi Everyone

BIG thanks to Horsham Hawkies for putting out yet another great course. Targets in the field were ‘played’ with by a very variable and gusty breeze, while in the woods we had lanes which had you searching for the light switch.

58 entries never the less had fun, especially some of the Meon crew testing their skills to the absolute limit with a range of boingers. I hope you all got a glimpse of Steve Haworth’s Mauser K98 springer, complete with a WWII 2.5 mag scope – amazing. Granted, he achieved more doughnuts than knock-overs, but a very bold (mad ) effort. It would not surprise me if the whole course heard his scream of delight when he knocked over the lane 11 kneeler. In spite of this, I suspect that this may be among Steve’s dropped scores.

Here is the full set of results …..

Lots of Platinums issued, including new ones won by Aaron Friend and Justine Rayner, in addition to those held over from previous rounds. Lots of happy faces on top of the 25 golds won today.

Prize drawer winners today were :

    • Kevin Seager – the £29 cash prize, and
    • Yours truly – the Air Arms goody bag

Team scores today and cumulative points for Rounds 1- 9 are:
    Club Round 8 Points
    Oaks 279 104
    Horsham 262 78
    Buxted 275 92
    Meon Valley 269 90
    Ford 236 68
    Swallows 182 59
    Iden Fern 262 53
    Maldon 264 69

Repeating the situation at Round 8, Swallows FTC, Ford and MAD all required lucky-dip cards, Swallows FTC getting 3 cards (the max allowed) to bolster their single entrant.

Happy and safe shooting to you all ahead of round 10 – the final round – of the 2016 SIHFT, which is in two weeks on the 11th September at MILE OAK. All the best of everything to those coming out to play at next Sunday’s Air Arms event.

Another very enjoyable day's shooting at Horsham - thank you to Phil, Derek and the rest of the Hawks for setting out a challenging, but fun course (am glad we weren't shooting peg 12 on a very dark day in the depths of winter! )

    Big smiles! :-)

Nice to see Rudy shooting, good though his score was, it never made the team, which goes to show how good we are becoming generally!!

Mike, as HOC at The Oaks, may I suggest, that next year you adopt the following so that other clubs (Buxted) stand a fighting chance?

    All Oaks shooters......

1 Are restricted to .22 springers
    2 Use iron sights
    3 Take all shots standing
    4 Are blindfolded

    Horsham SIHFT today

It was well worth the drive down from sunny Essex to shoot a great course! Thanks Horsham. Even the rain as we shot the field was tolerable!
Thanks to Tugg for shooting with me and being my "carer" - handing me my gun, putting out the mat, looking out for me etc!!!!!!!
Was great to catch up with old friends, we had a good laugh.
Looking forward to the next round, not to mention the Air Arms shoot next Sunday.

Great weather for most of the day, a light breeze now / then with a cool shower for later, what more could you want.

My lad, Gabriel, had a tough time but I put it down to a new scope / zero fitted the day before but he will get there. Being the only junior with all the adults (at least I think he was) he took it all in his stride & showed it's about having fun & being safe. Made his day getting his 1st badge, cheers guys.

Thanks to the Horsham lot for making it happen on the day.
Great venue & day out, looking forward to the last round.
