    Best value PCP

    Hello all,

My other half has said she'd like to try rifle shooting! Woohoo! (Likes clays to so progress always good!)

So, I was wondering about something easy to shoot and wondered about a PCP as easy to use, quiet, easy with licensing and minimal force to cock (I love my HW77 but it is a bit much for her to cock solo).

So, I was wondering about a PCP with a moderator. What would you folks recommend as a good value starter PCP?

    Cheers,

    Scrummy

Agree. Of course there is always a BSA Ultra, but I would go with the S200.

As above, Defo a s200 also some of the older ones like the falcon light hunter may be worth looking into, If multi shot needed then possibly the s410 with walnut stock if possible.

Steyr Hunting 5. I've had just about every PCP made over the last 20 odd years, many several times. If I'd have got this first it would have saved me thousands!

Yeah, but the S200 is better and cheaper. So much better that I have just bought another from Poland and will challenge you to a shooting contest at the November bash with my S200. Loser has to fill the hot water bottles.

I agree, in my opinion the S200 represents very good value for money.

Was there much of a saving by purchasing your S200 from Poland taking into account any postage costs?

    Thanks

I've had three. Sold them all. Its better than the S4**'s, but that's not exactly difficult.

Challenge accepted! Quickest five rings at the 40 yard 8mm bell target wins.

Too late Steve, I filled them in the last knockings at the previous Bash when Mick had the Portaloos taken away

'Best Value' ? I guess that's the best you can get with the budget you've got. Have a look at second hand maybe, there are some very nice PCPs out there at reasonable prices.

I second that. It is one of the most under rated PCPs becuase it doesn't have bells and whistles. If the OP wants a solid gun with magazine then I would stick my neck out and suggest HW100.
Around £725.00 for the walnut stock version what one gets with this gun is difficult to beat.

The Brocock Contour is another that should be in the mix.
Small, light,Quiet and clinically accurate in .177.
Around the same price as an S200,and they hold their value well.

I discounted the HW100 for the wife because of its weight; the AA S200 and BSA Ultra are far better for the 'slighter' shooter (have to be careful not to fall foul of the 'equal opportunities' people here.

My missus much prefers BSA Ultra over S200 (me too wwe've had both) Value wise I'd suggest a s h BSA, ideally old Scorpian bang for your money so to speak, and get it blueprinted (or reggd if you like that kinda thing)

    S200

I look forward to reading opinions of the S200 with adjustable/ ambi stock. I enjoy my S400 but due to a eye problem I now shoot left eye. Time for change..... hence my interest in the S200.
Not being in regular employment, the S200 may be achievable....... 60th birthday soon, cash presents only, I wish
Sell the unworn socks, slippers etc then try a green stocked S200. Please let my wife be looking over my shoulder and be reading this!
