Some Ultra's have a reputation for doing exactly what you've described...the plating peeling off the pellet probe. My Ultra is about three years old now and (luckily) has not been affected. I believe the answer is to replace the bolt.
Hi, bought a second hand Ultramax after hearing many good reviews on hear about them. Rifle was great at first but now seems hard to cycle the bolt and have found many tiny flecks of what looks like chrome all around the action. Any ideas?

what you think are flecks of chrome are flecks of lead,it's not unknown for pellets to fall backwards out of the magazine into the action.i'll wager that's whats happened to yours.
This almost looks like glitter and the bolt is hard to push forward when cycling another pellet into the breech. The rifle although second hand has not had a tin of pellets through it yet!
try single loading it without the magazine to see if it is still hard to close the bolt
