Titan Mohawk Multi pump/Daystate Sportsman Valve

As folks have asked about the valves on these in the past and having found no pictures or exploded diagrams on the net, I thought I'd post one. :-

This is actually the valve out of my Mohawk, I stripped it as there was a velocity variance on one pump as the exhaust valve was closing part way through the pump stroke so varying the pressure in the valve.
I found the culprit straight away as the exhaust valve return spring had collapsed, I'll just lap the valve back in and replace the spring, believe it or not, one off a clothes peg fits.
The inlet valve ball bearing was rusted so I've decided to change that as well seeing as the bearing out of a pushbike wheel is a direct replacement.

    All the best Mick

    Most interesting, Michael.

And, as ever, very encouraging and inventive use of an everyday household item and bike part.

I bet you get a right old bollocking off the lovely Shirl when your shreddies blow off the line courtesy of the springless clothes peg, though!!!

    Nice work

See, this is why I keep scrap items in the shed / around the house / in my pockets... it's amazing how useful they can be for ad hoc repairs. My Mrs just doesn't understand
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

When will they ever learn, Jon.

Shirl only gave up banging on about me having my own little scrapyard after I put the engine out of a scrap Escort van into her sons blown up daily driver.

Anyway, getting back to the Mohawk valve, I realised last night that the only reason I'm replacing the inlet valve is because the ball and spring have rusted over the last 25 odd years, so replacing both in stainless wouldn't be a bad idea.

So this morning I called in at my mate, Martin's, Tattoo and Body Piercing parlour and got this. :-

316 stainless balls with a PTFE bar between them, I already have a stainless steel spring so I can just use one ball and a bit of bar as the valve --- rustproof valve.

    Excellent, young Mick.

But has Shirl hung any washing out yet?
