    I think I got a bargain today ...

    Picked this up, and think I did OK for £70 ...

    Just asked Webley if they can date it by the batch and number under the grip.

    Avery nice find and a bargain too at that price.
    Nice to find it with the spare barrel complete with linkage, plus the overstickers on the box front label.
    Well done.

    Webley will not be able to date it from the batch number.
    The number under the top of the left grip is the complete batch number, with the usually three numbers on the front of the spring guide being the last three digits of that number.

    Yes! a real bargain!
    It looks to have the longer knurling on the barrel, that together with
    the prewar box with over stickers suggests that the pistol is post war and made before September 1949
    at which time the knurling was shortened to finish before the linkage.

    I see, the grips had 2198 and the guide 189 I think. Thanks !
