To all my fellow shooting friends. We have breaking news from Steyr UK!! Firearms Officer from North Yorkshire Police has just been to seize the five LP50's in our armoury as they are deeming them as section 5 prohibited weapons!! We also cannot receive any for service or repair. This however is all they are getting - 5 actions and that's it!!!
NEW!!!! Just been informed by the police that if Steyr UK receive any 5 shot pistols for service or repair we must notify the police immediately!!!

The majority of people I know through the forums who bought them did so in the full knowledge that they were section five. Apparently the main defense used will be sticking their fingers in their ears and shouting "La-La-La! I'm not listening!"

I tried that defense with the Mrs the other day, and she said I was being rude.

If its against the law and they can find someone to prosecute then its a done deal. Hopefully this will go to court and the "defence" provided by the home office can be used and we will finally have a precedent and closure on the whole issue.

Courts never look favourably on section five weapons though.

To be fair it was never a debate and it was doomed (read section 5) many years ago.

A little while ago a few people wailed and gnashed teeth saying it wasn't fair and they should be allowed to have one anyway. That was never the case, but a few gullible people fell for it.

This may change, but don't hold your breath.
