To be honest I don't think a smooth bore will make a difference. The act doesn't exclude them, it outlaws the action which doesn't specifically exclude a type of barrel.
You can spend thousands and still miss a barn door or spend just enough and enjoy yourself. If you haven't got the talent to start with a million pound won't fix it. Whippet, Russell, a few bang sticks and a flat cap. http://www.smart-tech1st.co.uk

    It is a .22 rimfire.

    Many people don't.

I have a perfectly legal .22 rimfire and a couple of 12g 3 shot semi autos. My worry is that this could also change if the liberal fookwits get a chance.

Maybe time for a class action against Steyr?

Edit - I bought a LP50 from Mr Preston around 10 years ago but will wait for a few more facts before deciding on what action needs to be taken.

This is clearly a big step in that direction.
Yes they need to stamp out law abiding people from carefully looking after their guns by sending them to a qualified specialist.

Those sawn off shotguns and pistols used by criminals ... well as long as they don't use them in public ...

    Why would you sue Steyr?
And for a 10 year old pistol what damages would you hope to recover?

Steyr UK maybe?.....if the law has been in place since 1999 and Steyr UK have been selling them then after that time? i certainly won't be expecting to hand over a 1K+ pistol without compensation.

Your first sentence rather hits the nail on the head Mark.
    Just like an LP5.

Bit of a challenge for your local Small Claims Court I feel.

So, who informed the police there were 5 semi auto pistols at Steyr UK anyway?? Very smelly rat about I think

And also people are knee jerking about H5 rifles and other rifles.. Maybe they aren't effected? I have read both sides of the debate many times and surely if they were Steyr would have had some of those confiscated too? Do you not think it may be more to do with the pistol and sec 5 etc? May not be, but maybe a ray of hope?

I wouldn't be wrong to say that even the Police would want this mess that is the " UK gun laws " sorted out but I am afraid that what they would probably want to do is to put a blanket ban on what is now classed as " fire arms ".
The problem was that after the tragedy of Dunblane many a knee jerk reation laws came in to effect and I am not aware if any sensible resistance or debate took place, hence the present right royal mess.

Wishful thinking. Many, many times this has come up for debate on this forum and it always baffles me how seemingly intelligent people insist that the gun they bought abroad and imported into this country is legal. I and others have always advised against purchasing semi auto because they fall into section 5 and usually get the screamers shouting us down. Seems like the law has been clarified and all the people out there with said guns are likely to get an amnesty to hand them in.
