    Spottiing Scope

Yesterday I was pistol shooting and another member came on the range to zero an open sight rifle. I gave her my spotting scope so she could inspect her handiwork.

A surprising effect was that the cards I shot were the most consistently good for ages. Anyone else find this?

Shooting w/o a 'scope can be a useful training exercise. The usual distractions are gone, so you often concentrate more on your technique, and are less affected by nerves. Many less experienced shooters (and some who should know better) don't follow through properly in their haste to see where the shot has hit. Counting score, and especially counting against your average, is really distracting. However, as a prone shooter, I wouldn't shoot a comp card totally blind, as things can go wrong.
