Airsporter Mk2 - Piston Seal Advice

What's the general thought/advice when it comes to changing an Airsporter MK2 Piston Seal?

I see there are various options :

John Knibbs do the original Leather Washer : http://www.airgunspares.com/store/pr...t-No.-16-1123/
And also do a Nylon Head Replacement which will take an O-Ring: http://www.airgunspares.com/store/pr...-No.-16-1123P/
Which apparently they don't shoot as nice with

    I also see Chambers do a O-Ring Replacement : https://www.gunspares.co.uk/products...irsporter-Mk2/

Which is the most popular? And in terms of fitting, how easy is it?

Rifle is currently all stripped down, just wondering if it's a normal process of pulling off the piston seal and pushing a new one on, or if there is more to it than that?

    Many Thanks,

    James

    Blimey Jim.

I moved this thread to the collectors section as I thought folks here would be all over it like a rash.

The leather MK2 seal is held in place by a plastic ring which is stretched over the front cone of the piston on assembly, to get this off you normally destroy it.

The new leather seal normally comes with a new plastic retaining ring --- hot water is your friend.

The whole of the O ring adaptor has to be stretched over the cone to fit it --- I think Chambers insist on you sending them your piston for fitment as it's a bit of a bugger.

    All the best Mick

    Hi Jim,

I bought a mk2 that I found had a later mark flat fronted piston in it when I investigated the poor power. I picked up an old mk2 piston with a rough seal which I tried for a few months before sending it off to Chambers to fit the O-ring affair. It shoots nicely in my opinion but I never had a proper mk2 with a decent leather washer to compare it with.

    Regards, Tom
