It looks like Beech from the rays under the comb....taken from a section of wood within an area with varying grain...stained it looks very similar to Walnut, whats the inside like ?

    Hiya pastie.
Inside the stock is not so clear. On either stock actually. I think some of the cleaning oils have seeped down between stock and action. What you see on the outside is pretty much the same inside really.
I know that different cuts from different parts of a baulk can result in varying visual appearances but trust me if you put the lighter stock(thus is the one in question) in the pics up against another known walnut stock you will see some very very similar grain characteristics. Its quite a bland bit of wood though as I pointed out at the outset.
    Thanks for your input

    Bad news, good news here.

Bad news - It's definitely beech.

Good news - it's one of the very best beech stocks I've seen.

    Regards

What's the betting, the mashed piston seal is directly related to that f@%&in' square section spring? I hate the things.
The South of England has 2 good things, the M1 and the A1. Both will take you to Yorkshire.

I still want to see an original walnut example. IJ's is a bit of a super deluxe for me and probably a Beeman special run or a thank you special.
Macarri did some custom stocks and so did a few other custom/tuning makers.

Again I've yet to find a walnut standard factory.

Did I mention this rifle if fitted with Apel 2 piece q/d mounts with Beeman Blue Ribbon scope?

Excerpt from a Beeman catl. which may shed some light on the subject. http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Airs...ml?sort=4&o=64

Looks like Beeman is to blame for the Dan Dare MK3 muzzle brake!
