    Odd vintage webley pellet tin

I'd like some advice. I have found an empty webley pellet tin. It's the green. 177 square type from around the 1940s I would guess. The strange difference is that there is a red sticker on the tin from webley saying.. 22 and 500. Seems these tins may have been used for. 22 at some point maybe where there was a short supply of the proper red tins. Has anyone any advice?

Yes, Webley would use overstickers when stocks of pre printed tins ran out. They also used a plain white sticker saying .177 for .22 tins.

Thanks for the great response, does this make the tin more collectable?

    Hi Ian,

I had to do a double take on your reply given that I thought all things Webley offended your eye. I reckon there's hope for you yet !

    Happy Christmas
