    Highest serial number Hubertus?

Curious how many were made? Highest I saw on the internet was Trevor's at 16,311.

    Hello,

The Encyclopedia of Spring Air Pistols (John Griffiths) estimates up to 16500 with the highest number at the time of publication being 16492. Apart from the usual small and large frame versions, the book also references the existence of an extended barrel variation thought to be a genuine factory modification. There are no markings on the pistol which may have been an experimental prototype.

Apparently a few, slightly more primitive pistols were produced by F. Jung in 1925, which may have formed the basis for the design eventually produced by Hubertus.

    Regards

    Hi,

A bit more information derived from The "Encyclopedia of Spring Air Pistols" :

Small Frame (first series) made 1925 -1927 Ser Nos 1 to between 1169 & 1710 all .177 calibre only.

Large Frame (second series) made 1927-1935 Ser Nos from somewhere between 1170 and 1710 to ca 16500 and available smoothbore or rifled in .177 and very rarely. .22 which known examples suggest were only offered on the last models sold.

Some boxed examples of the Large Frame pistol also came with a cocking aid and a spare barrel which would have made a nice set.

I prefer the aesthetics of the smaller pistol which seems to present a more balanced appearance, but neither pistol offer much in the way of performance, probably due to the rather inefficient design.

Just for the record, I have Small Frame Ser No 550 and Large Frame Ser No 15352.

    Regards

    Brian
