Help with 1980s- ish Scope I.D.

Can anyone identify this unbranded old scope? TV style view and simple crosshair.
    Thanks for looking.

    Doubt it.

Back then, there were any number of brands of Japanese scopes sold here - far more than the number of factories making them. Many of them are rather similar and some appear identical apart from the brand name and other markings.

A few examples would be Simmons, Bushnell, Tasco, ASI, Optima, Edgar Bros, Fontaine, Webley, BSA, Weihrauch, Original, Kassnar, Hunter, Bushmaster, Vistascope....

Yes, I that much i do know, but the lack of a brand name from that era is a new one on me. Badge engineering was king but there usually was a badge.

I suspect it came from the same factory as was making Optima branded scopes. I think?? these were made by Hakko. Should be a perfectly good scope, the mounts are typical of the time too. The following is an Optima with plex cross hair:

Thanks for that, lads. I do remember most of those names above. This one is a 4x40 and seems good quality. I picked it and an ASI Deluxe 4x32 up cheap, locally and I'm pretty pleased with both. May keep an eye out for more old Japanese made stuff. I just about caught the end of the Made in Japan era when I started.
No idea what they'll be going on at this stage but will try them with the mounts already fitted and see how it goes.
