That’s because M/c Air Guns is now closed. They knew you were coming. 😂

Before I did I visited the local shops around my area and did find that they were either indifferent or miserable beyond comprehension for some reason, one not really wanting to sell me a gun, but not the shop in devises.

I'm able to have a bit of banter with the staff and see them having banter between themselves and other customers quite a lot. They also have a range where you can try before you buy which is always a bonus. They cover air rifles and pistols, rim and centre for along with shotguns and everything else in between. If they have not got it, it is a pretty good chance they can get it for you. There is a large amount of knowledge there and are happy to answer any questions you may have and pass it on.

And when I visit there are always a couple of people there shooting to have a chat to and catch up with over a coffee, once they meet you. I highly recommend a visit if your ever passing.

Glad that they treat you right they almost had a customer shot by plod when they sold a rifle to an old chap he walked out the door with an uncovered rifle. If I had not spotted it he would I am sure been shot by plod I caught up with him in a public car park. The poor sod had Dementia did they care nope a sale is a sale.

    Don't give a plod a bad name.

    They would have challenged first.

One would hope so - but if the bloke had dementia would he have realised? But in this instance it seems that the situation was averted.

    Harlow gun rack

I must confess that the guys at the gun rack in Harlow are excellent, they are happy to engage with their customers and are extremely knowledgeable.
They carry a good stock of guns, pellets and accessories.
A bargain can also be had if you buy multiple items.

    Give them a call.
Ps. I am in no way related to or work there, they are just good at what they do.

I found Blackpool good too. Only been there once or twice when up north visiting family years ago. Have to say Sportsman gun center in Exeter have always been ok. Not overfriendly, just better than miserable. The gunshop in forestreet used to be terrible but I'm going way back 30 odd years.

I found Bromsgrove shooting supplies to be a friendly bunch which used to be my local (ish) shop when I lived in Cheltenham.

Mmmm...A visit to Will Gerke, Woodfield Products, Morriston, near Swansea was always a pleasure. A warm welcome always, and whatever I bought was at a very favourable discount. A great character indeed. Sadly it has become a mail order business, no visits especially considering this never ending virus lark. I wish him well.....

    Kind regards to all.

But expensive. They always seem to add on 10% extra to their rifles. I won't buy from them as I think they are taking the mick.

The gun shop in Hailsham - since shut, has to have been the most miserable. Bought some .243 ammo at a ridiculous price and never went back.

GT Shooting in Coulsdon, Surrey. Another miserable bloke but I put up with him as it's local. He's not hostile, just very matter of fact, no humour or banter.

Barrett's of Caterham - owned by 2 brothers who look very alike. One is miserable, one is fine and happy to chat.

Big Dan's in Essex - What a gent. Chatty, friendly and very very good on prices. Excellent customer service.

BAR - Went there when I was on hollibobs a few years ago. Can't remember the name of the guy I dealt with (I Know it wasn't Lloyd) and I bought a BSA Ultra. He was hard work, I was really surprised and disappointed with his attitude, kind of couldn't give a toss.

Emmett and Stone in Little Marlow, Bucks very friendly and helpful. Keen prices too. Bought a CZ .22lr there.

And my personal friend, Myles Robertson of MBR Sporting. Extremely helpful, knowledgible and a right laugh. Thats's why he's my mate

Can’t believe over 6 years later and I’ve still never found a happy gun shop

Maybe I need to up sticks or put more derv in the heavy oil burner

In fact my recent experiences of local shops has actually gotten worse

    Holy Thread Revival Batman!

I have a great one down here now. Friendly staff, huge selection of all sorts, massive and dusty stockrooms I am allowed to graze, and a 25m range to try stuff out on

If any of you ever find yourselves down this way, please get in touch and I’ll give you the tour
