I managed to rig up the combro and over ten shots didn't get much variation on 11.4 ft lb's using RWS Super Fields.
Gamos do seem to like RWS Superfields. My Phox is nice an accurate with them!

Well, I quite like my Gamo CFX for the money. But it did need quite a bit of internal work - new piston seal and steel weight, and a new guide that actualll supported the spring, piston sleave, and a new spring. And a new barrel as the old one was iffy. And new trigger to get two stages. And a new muzzle lockup. But it is now really quite accurate, light, and nice to shoot

I also think the CF20 (if you get one that aligns) are quite good VFM.
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

    So I bought one.

Let me first say I am a traditionalist.
No Armalite replicas or bullpups for me.
I'm not keen on plastics either.

This gun has a lot of plastic and is fugly.
Mine has the beech stock with adjustable cheek piece.
    The gun is surprisingly light.

You get a 3-9 40 scope with a one piece mount and the rail on the gun is in two sections separated by plastic bumpers.

Two mags -mine are red .22.
Very clearly numbered with warning triangle when it's empty.
The mags are easy to load and click nicely and vertically into the top of the weird bit.

    And that's it.
Break and fire. Repeat 9 times.
When empty you press a button and the mag pops out.

I've had a Goldstar and the new system is way better.

Despite the very long weird barrel ,cocking is a bit tough but it will wear in.
The gun makes an odd flat sound on firing and is not quiet.

I hope to go to the range this weekend for a proper test but I'm pleased so far.

I doubt I will become a fan of Gamo build and styling but this is fun stuff for jaded airgunners.
    For £250.

    At the range with it.
The mag system is very good.
Way less fiddling and uncertainty than with my Goldstar.

It is so much easier to insert a mag vertically than sideways.
The mag clearly shows empty and a button pops it out.

Plenty of power and accuracy ok but the scope supplied is a rifle scope so a bit blurred at air gun ranges.
    I will swap scopes.
The gun is light and handles well if you remember the long barrel.
It is noisy from the action rather than the barrel.

I've never had a Gamo but its amusing and will no doubt benefit from use and a look inside after the new has worn off.

Does the pellet jump the gap from magazine to barrel or is it somehow chambered directly into the breech each time its cycled?

I have an old Gamo Shadowmatic and I think its a great little gun, pellet choice is limited to short pellets if using the tube style magazine and accuracy improves if the magazine isn't used and instead a pellet is loaded as per a normal break barrel. I like it though for short range <20m.
