    The gentlemans calibre.....25

No long range sniping, you've got to work to get to that 20yds, maybe not so much in a barn.!
Warning, I am biased towards the 25.
The uncouth 22ers will be along soon... heatherns.

.25 Ultra, mate (or Scorpion or whatever they're called - the 10 shot thing with a poly stock).
I had one and regret selling it, great little guns.

If you never shoot beyong 28 yards then .25 all day long.
The feeble minded will be along soon to say that Mr Rat sees the pellet coming and saunters out of the way. This is to cover for their poor skills and hidden homosexuality.

Get a .25, I've got a .25 barrel on my Challenger, so although it's a break barrel springer I find it lovely to shoot and the wack they make down range really brings a smile to your face, the only thing I don't like is the tightness of my barrel which makes it hard loading quickly.

Get a .25 barrel for a HW99 or 95 that you've already purchased in .22 - switch the barrels when you're going for 'big game'

Mmm, I thought I'd collected all I 'needed' but now I'm getting a hard on for a .25: So.... I've got a HW95 I want to leave as it is, should I get a 99 in .22 and change the barrel or, is there an 'out of the box' (or s/h equivalent) springer that would fit the bill for short range ratting (haven't got any rats but Jees, you never know when you might have)

    .25 ball round

I kid you not .....this is the real deal....i once had a .25 barrelled Webley Mark 2.....very rare to get in that caliber. Indeed the gun had 2 barrels but i sold the .177 barrel as it performed poorly on that gun and had suspect rifling.
Anyway the tool was used on occasion for rats and the ball round passed clean through at about 8 paces or so , taking off the far side shoulder of one.
I did not have a chrony back then but must have been up near 12.
The ball rounds were later discontinued....i never did get my hands on the caledonians everyone raved about.

I remember reading an article in one of the airgun mags some years ago about a chap with .25 Mark 2 Wobbly using balls on rats. Was it you?
