It's the one that fits you the best, feels nicest in your hands and shoots well for you. Simple innit?

Seriously, you need to think do you want single shot or multi shot and how much do you want to pay?

Then it might be worth a look down the local club see a few, even try a few and go from there.

Don't forget you'll need charging gear to go with it. Secondhand from here might be your way forward. But you still need to be fairly sure you'll get on with what you intend to buy.

The very best hunting rifle in my opinion is the Ripley Xl9/XL25.
For a standard XL9 your looking at £1300.

If you are hunting, try lugging the HW100 about and you may go off the idea.

A single charge may last you up to a week on an AAs410k, and its a nice little rifle to carry, reliable, and accurate

Bluing can be a bit iffy though

I reckon £500:00 would get you a nice Falcon FN19, scope, bottle and guage and slip second hand.

Good hunting tool, light, reliable and very accurate.

    IMHO

a good hunting gun is only as good as the person useing it
u can take rabbits with the cheapest of rifles
id go to your local gun shop and try a few
im sure u will find 1 that u like and meets ur requirements
then come back to the bbs and bye it second hand and safe some money

    Rifle choice

It's been said many times before, but...
The best advice is to go to a club and have a look. The best hunting rifle for you is the one that "fits" you, has an action that you like and that you like the look of.
I spent far more on an MFR than I originally budgeted for because the rifle fits me. Since then I have fired a mate's, fantastically accurate .177 S410, which didn't fit me off the bench, and the same mate's AA pro target which is a fantastic rifle and has made me go hmm!
Still don't regret my .20 MFR though - it's the dogs!
