Will take some pics of the unit, as I think the fella has put a sooperparful gold spring in it .... the safety button doesn't engage and I know from past strip downs of hw's there a way of putting the trigger unit back in,get it wrong and the safety won't engage.
Thanks for the help so far especially Mach 1.5.

Did venom fit the fairy liquid bottle as standard? Sorry couldn't resist.

The stock is lovely, as is the scope and mount, even the bluing shame about the internals.

Rifle is going for a reblue with Collin and as you said the stock really is very nice indeedy...as for internals, I wouldn't have a clue what was meant to be in there venom wise, maybe somebody who has stripped their verminater can say as to what was meant to be in there.
For me it was worth what I paid () just for the stock.
And as Mach 1.5 has said the parts are still obtainable (from V-Mach I guess) so wouldn't take much to return it fully, whether I will tread that path is undecided as for me a reblue is 1st on the list.
I just happen to have a new titan no1 spring which by all accounts fits the 77 so I thought I might splash out on a vortek seal and along with spring and ptfe sheet have a wee play while I enquire at VM about whats needed etc.
Big thanks to Chris at hull who informed me the rifle was sold to venom on 26/05/87.

    * The fairey bottle does work very well though....just goes to show they don't make em like they used to these days, and to think some poor kid was waiting weeks for that bottle to make his rocket ship.

Pre Ken Turner Venom tune on a 77 was debur new spring and good lubrication. Piston was left without a sleeve. If it's not a laserglide and you want it to be authentic that's all it takes.

Thanks for that, I am toying with the idea of a V-Mach kit at some point but in the meantime I have finished the 'chopped' spring and also have a titan no1 xs along with a vortek seal and the original hw seal which seems to be in very good nick to have a play with.
First thing on the list is a re-blue though.
