    Old school vs new school.

    More springtime rifle testing.
My FWB300RT vs My Diana 100 conversion to sub12ft/lb PCP .177. I've not yet found a PCP that can outstrip the RT at up to and around 30-40 yards. Today was a bit blustery and raining lightly. The RT wins again. Anyone do the same thing?

    Diana 100 PCP.

First shot a flyer. Next 5 some vertical stringing. Happy to admit that's me.

Interesting conversion of a Diana 100 ssp to a pcp. Looks a nice job

Can you convert it back again?

No. Well, I assume it could be but I wouldn't. Used to have a fine version of the match rifle. Lovely bit of kit but always felt over engineered. This PCP set up was done by a polish guy going by the pseudonym of Kuffell22. Aestgetically, what I particularly liked about the 100 was the combination of wood and metal. This conversion builds on that. However, the last judgement for all my rifles is accuracy. And this RT which was given a complete overhaul and two stage trigger by the very talented Wonky D now puts out enough power that when combined with a JSB 7.87 from pellet is a phenomenal performer. I didn't should give groups and photograph one. The group in the picture is first 6 shots after 3 months idle. No warm up shots. 3-9x33 scope. I LOVE that rifle.

tis a weighty bit of kit. But that's to be expected. I doubt there is much in it to be honest. My first RT had a wooden butt pad for fast shouldering techniques. Then there is the conventional one stage trigger - again for same purposes. But as I mentioned, I had mine converted to a two stage. The muzzle end on the RT is finished as a weight only with no dovetail, as it was only ever designed to be scoped. With the exception of the thumb hole stock, I doubt there is much in it. I do love the SU, and that adjustable cheek piece is superb if you decide to scope. There is a perverse joy in taking the old girl up to the club, her mechanical rat getting noise as I cock. The uninitiated laughing away at my wee 3-9x33 scope and the old school 'antique' - and then the results come back in from the 35 yard comp. makes me chuckle.

Does it outshoot the Diana 100 in standard trim I wonder. Because the Diana 100 was not developed as pcp so maybe it doesnt perform at its max in pcp trim.
I've had a FWB universal, and several other matchguns and the Diana 100 was my most accurate (of non-pcp's). It was about as good as my LG300 iirc.
It also depends on distance. Its quite 'easy'to get good performance at 'only'10m of course. But at 25m match springers never really satisfied me. Even hunting type rifles non-match tended to outshoot them at 25m.

In British slang an anorak is a person who has a very strong interest in niche subjects.
