    new BSA

I've just come into ownership of an old BSA which is showing its age.

My first hurdle is identifying exactly what it is.

In faded writing the body has:

    The BSA Standard
    air Rifle .177 Bore No.1
Birmingham Small Arms co Ltd England

Various patent dates are printed but fade out, but 1907 seems to be the most common date

    The serial number is L26530

If anyone can shed any light on the rifle I'd be grateful. I need to obtain service parts and want to be sure I get the correct ones.

    Thanks in advance

    Steve.

    Hi Steve,

You seem to have most of the information relating to your rifle except the correct age which is:

    Light Pattern Standard Air Rifle .177 1919 - 1936

Spare parts usually readily available from John Knibbs International or Chambers.

    Regards

    Brian

    Thanks Brian.

I stumbled on the knibbs site whilst googling, I can't believe spares are so readily accessible. Fantastic.

My next issue will be correct lubrication.

Can I use moly grease or is there a recommended lubricant?

You have exactly what Brian says, and Protek also hold some spares.
