I removed the two barrel bands from my 44/10 a few years ago, never had any issue with the stock flexing, still going strong now as far as I know...
The trick is in how you use the two rear screws to hold the action in the stock...
Question for anyone who has floated the barrel..... mine is the synthetic tactical version, I've just removed the barrel band, but this seems to allow the stock to flex significantly at the front end. Will this cause any accuracy issues? Would I be better drilling out the barrel band to be wider than the barrel and refitting it to give more support around the cylinder?
