hw77 short stroke

Recently took delivery of a new 22 hw77 , I've done the usual deburr and tidy up of the internals , next step is to get a good fitting guide and top hat.
I've measured the stroke , it's quite a bit less than my 95/98 which clearly benefitted from a short stroke piston head , I'm left wondering would a 22 77 also benefit from a short stroke piston head and if so,by how much ?
Any thoughts on the subject.

I like a 12mm reduction in the 95, but I find 8mm is optimal in the 77/97.

Its sort of like the top hats in AA's. They differ from gun to gun depending on how they perform in the factory. The only way to tell is to check. If they are there they will be held in with a small o ring.

As I'm just playing with a 77, I take it 8mm is also about the smallest stroke reduction you can make with a clip on extension ?

Mick , I have gone shorter, with a much lighter piston , needs more spring though.

No, its easy enough to go smaller, but 5 different sizes is enough and 8mm works.

I ended up saying sod it and made a new rotating piston weighing in at 219g with a 75mm stroke.

I used a TX latch rod and altered the back block and fitted a CD trigger unit.





It'll probably be crap.
