    Top Airguns On the Market

    Hi lads.

I've been out of the scene for about few years now, playing with rimfire and centrefire rifles, but I'm toying with the idea of giving them a rest and getting back onto airguns, specifically PCP's.

I did have an HW100KT which was excellent and I'm wondering what you guys think are the top few airguns today. I'll then view a few and see which I like the best.

In terms of usage, I'd probably get into HFT so I'd be looking at rifle suitable for this.

    Thanks

    Hi Elliot
For me the best on the market is still the HW 100.

Have a look at the RAW guns, very nice build quality, more accurate than me or you. IMHO probably the best air rifle on the market.

The day they make a PCP that does what HW100 does, the way it does it and has the same quality then I might consider a HW 100.

I'm almost in the same boat and like the look of the BSA Goldstar in the pepper stock.

Very nice and tried one at Sportsmans for for and feel and it was nice.

Other contender for me is the Air Arms HFT 500, but a bit more expensive.

AA HFT500 looks good, but it doesn't sound like much has topped the HW100 yet

If it is just for HFT I would get an AA S400 classic.

Mmmm difficult........I've got both a HW100KT and an S400 both in .177 and my preference would go to the S400, but only because it's in a custom stock, similar to an MPR stock but better. I can't split the actions, but the S400 with this stock just carries it.

    Which PCP

Don't know much about the HW100 but am not keen on how the barrel is secured in the action.
I own three S400 series rifles so that is my choice .

No matter what personal preference in spring or PCP if it is HW it works and is infinitely tunable
I would say any airgun shooter would be more than happy with a springer and a pcp with the Hw mark

3/8" groups at 50 yards , outdoor range and my shooting which is nothing to brag about. My KT barrel is free floating and no issues what so ever. Both my S400s ( classic and carbine ) are almost as accurate but I have to really look after the barrels as you know they are as thick and bendy as a drinking straw.

HFT500 for anything except hunting. It's an S400 with the lessons learned, especially a robust, floating barrel. For me (and there's always a personal element) it's more accurate than my HW100 and more consistent than my Steyr - and it's simple as hell to adjust, service or repair.
